My Tech Journey

I've always been fascinated by technology, and it all started in high school when I took computer studies classes. I remember trying to learn Swift, Apple’s programming language, but it was tough going. I wasn’t even sure where I was going to use it. Finally gave up and focused on my high school studies.
It wasn’t until later on that I rediscovered my passion for tech and started learning web development. During my first year of university, I focused on React, Node.js, and MongoDB. These technologies were a great introduction to full-stack web development, and I enjoyed building projects with them. In my second year, I dove deeper into web development and learned Next.js, Firebase, PHP and WordPress.
In my third year, I can’t say I learned any new technology, but I was a bit busy with freelancing and a couple of personal projects.
By the time I was in 3.2, I landed an attachment at Glitex Solutions as a front-end developer. I did my attachment for three months, and after that, I got a contract to complete the project I was working on, Karibu Kazi. After that project, I got another one, which lasted about a month, then came Gmotive, and after that, Sukiko, which I worked on until April.
Right now, I have a permanent job at Glitex as both a front-end and mobile developer.
Apart from work, I kept pushing myself to grow. I learned React Native, so now I do mobile development too. I also took time to improve my UI and UX skills, especially focusing on clean design and better user experience.
I’ve been thinking about what to learn next, maybe PHP to build more back-end stuff, or maybe switch gears and explore hardware. I’ve also been playing around with AI, not fully into AI like machine learning or deep stuff, but I’ve been learning how to use AI APIs to optimize my workflow and make my builds smarter.
My tech journey has been full of ups and downs, but I’m excited to continue learning and growing as a developer. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.
